Start Here

Throughout this story, Beatrice discovers clues that will help her unlock the mystery of Argilia - and why she’s there. Why not start a CLUE BOOK of your own and see if you can crack the mystery of the forest before Beatrice does?

Open the Clue Book below to read some clues Beatrice has discovered so far. Feel free to add some of your own to your own book.

You’ll be adding more clues to your notebook as you continue the story, so keep it handy!

It’s time to start your STORY MAP. in each module, you will be given ideas for things to add to your story map. Feel free to add any details that you think are important. You can draw, colour, use cutout pictures from magazines, symbols… whatever you like! Make sure you include something to represent each of the main characters: Beatrice, Croc Harry, and Horace.

You can begin by adding:

  • A border around Agilia (almost to the edges of the paper) with Beatrice’s treehouse in the center

  • A river. It should run North for sure… then it could go any direction to the south of the treehouse.

  • Left to outhouse; right to cookfire (by the river).

  • For four days, Beatrice walks a ½ day in each direction. East = fig trees, West = raspberry bushes and 3-fruit picnic tree, South = meadows, North = rivers & lakes - with mountains in the distance.

  • How about a compass rose with the 4 directions on your map?

Not a bad start. It’s already starting to look like a map!

Again, you can download and use the template on the right (print it out and add details as we go) or create your own from a blank sheet of paper.
